*Queen’s South Africa, 1899-1902, 3rd type reverse, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Transvaal, South Africa 1902 (158 Pte. R. Cockburn. Canadian M.R.), dark old tone, good very fine, and scarce. Private Ross Cockburn is confirmed on the Q.S.A. Medal Roll as having served with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles with the above entitlement. His entries in the Canadian National Archives also state that he was from Toronto, in the County of York, and that he attested for service at the age of 22. He had previously been a 2nd Lieutenant in the 30th Regiment (Militia).
