Hankin is confirmed in ‘The East and West Africa Medal 1887-1900 to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines’ by Paul G. Lane, as having served aboard H.M.S. Conquest during the Witu 1890 expedition, and aboard St. George during the Mwele and Brass River operations of 1895.
