Description

*A Great War 1914-15 Trio and Memorial Plaque awarded to Acting-Sergeant James Douglas, Royal Garrison Artillery, late King’s Royal Rifle Corps, who died on 23 October 1918, comprising: 1914-15 Star (R-15451 Pte. – A. Cpl. – J. Douglas. K.R.R.C.); British War and Victory Medals, 1914-1919 (R-15451 A. Sjt. J. Douglas. K.R.Rif.C.); Memorial Plaque, 1914-1918 (James Douglas), in original cardboard envelope, with transmission slip to Mrs. E. E. Douglas of 123 Clarence Buildings, Kentish Town N.W.1; Group loose, practically as issued (4). Acting-Sergeant James Douglas, of Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland, initially served in the Great War with the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, later transferring to the Royal Garrison Artillery. It was with this latter regiment that he is recorded as having died on 13 October 1918 at the age of 47 – having been serving with the Forth Coast Defences (Inchkeith). His C.W.G.C. entry records that he was: ‘Son of William and Harriet McConnachie Douglas; husband of E. E. Douglas, of 123 Clarence Buildings, South Kentish Town, London. Born at Greenock.’
