Awadh, Shuja-ud-Daula (AH1167-1188/1754-1775 AD), Allahabad Mint, Silver Rupee, AH 1187/15 RY, 'Saya-e-fazle elah' Couplet, In the name of Shah Alam II, Obv: sikka zad bar haft kishwar saya e fazle elah, hamie din-e- Muhammad, Shah Alam Badshah & hijri date 1187, Rev: sana 15 julus, zarb Allahabad at the bottom & Persian letter 'Ain' in the letter 'seen' of julus, 10.88g, 23.3mm, (Master & Kapoor # 3.03, hijri & ry combination is unlisted), choice very fine,Very Rare. Allahabad, having been seized by the East India Company in 1771 and subsequently sold to Awadh a couple of years later. It is thought that the initial letter 'Ain' represents Almas Ali Khan, an important funtionary of the Nawab, Shuja'a-ud-Daula.
