Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 AD), Gold Dinar, "Scepter/Standard" type, Large flan, Obv: king, nimbate, standing facing left, holding royal scepter (Rajadhanda) adorned with ribbon in left hand and sacrificing over altar, garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend "Samudra" below king's arm, circular Brahmi legend “Samarasasa……”, Rev: goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on high backed throne, holding diadem and cornucopia, tamgha to upper left, feets are resting on a circular mat, two legs of the throne clearly visible and a small symbol at top right, Brahmi legend "Parakramah" in the right field, 7.6g, 20.21mm, (variant of Altekar. Bayana Hoard # Pl. II-1/variant of BMC # Pl. I-7/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class II -Var. C.5.1), choice very fine, Very Rare.
