Description

Gujarat Sultanate, Shams ud-din Muzaffar Shah III (Second reign AH 991-992, 1583-1584 AD), Ahmedabad Dar-ul Darb Mint, Silver Rupee, Rebellion issue, AH 991, Obv: Arabic legend The Kalima Shahada within a double square with dots in between, the four Caliphs' names in the margin, Rev: Arabic legend "sultan Muzaffar Shah ibn Mahmud Shah" and Hijri year 991 within a double square with dots in between, "al-sultan al-a'zam khuld allahu mulkahu wa sultanahu" and mint name partly visible at the bottom in the margin, 11.17g, 21.00mm, (G&G # G647), test marks, choice very fine, Very Rare.

Note: Muzaffar revolted during the reign of Emperor Akbar and in 1583 regained the throne of Ahmedabad for approximately a year. He issued coins that were very similar to the coins of Akbar.
