Description

Rajgir (Bihar) Region (200 BC), Post-Mauryan, Cast Copper Unit, Uninscribed, Obv: a standing deity within a border, Rev: uniface, 2.96g, 10.8x14.8mm, (Mitch. ACW # 4602), choice very fine, Very Rare.

Note: Ancient Rajgir (Rajagriha) was the first imperial capital of the Magadha Janapada Pataliputra (Patna). It is located in modern-day Bihar. Early Post-Mauryan coins of Rajgir are rare, and only a few have been found around the ancient ruins of the town. This type is unrecorded.
