Gupta Dynasty, Kumaragupta I (Mahendraditya) (415-455 CE), Gold Dinar, "Archer" type, With "Kumara", Obv: the king, nimbate, standing facing left, wearing a crown over curly hair, a necklace and a sash around his waist , a big loop at the right, the king holds a longbow in his left hand and an arrow in his right, a filleted Garuda standard at left, Brahmi letter "Kumara" below his arm, Brahmi legend "Maharajadhiraja (sri Kumaraguptah)" around the field, Rev: the goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on a lotus in padmasana, facing forward, holding a diadem in her right hand while the left is resting on her thigh,a lotus is seen adjacent to the her face, tamgha at the top-left, Brahmi legend "Shri Mahendrah" on the right field, dotted border around the field, 7.82g, 18.9mm, (Variant of Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. IX-11/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class I -Var. B.2), obverse is slightly double-struck, about extremely fine, Extremely Rare.
Note: This coin represents a revival of the archer type with the Brahmi legend "Kumara" by Kumaragupta I, making it an exceptionally attractive specimen.
