Gupta Dynasty, Samudragupta (335-370 CE), Gold Dinar, "Scepter/Standard" type, Obv: the king standing facing left, nimbate, holding the royal scepter (Rajadhanda) adorned with ribbon in his left hand and sacrificing over an altar, Garuda standard on the left field, Brahmi legend "Samudra" below the king's arm, a circular Brahmi legend "Samarasativi(tatavijayojitari.........)", Rev: the goddess Lakshmi, nimbate, seated on high backed throne whose two legs are clearly visible, with her feet resting on a circular mat below, diadem and cornucopia in her hands, a tamgha on the top-left field, Brahmi legend "Parakramah" on the right field, dotted border around, 7.65g, 20.73mm, (Altekar, Bayana Hoard # Pl. II-7/TOTGE, S. Kumar # Class II -Var. A), about very fine, Rare.
