Punch Marked Coin, Kosala Janapada (500-400 BC), Silver Karshapana, Later and lower weight type, ABCCD type, Obv: five punch-marks, consisting of a primitive triskele, an upright elephant facing left, 2x taurine symbol (Nandipada) within semi-circular enclosures and an ancillary symbol, Rev: banker's marks including flowers and other symbols, 2.55g, 22.4mm, (Unlisted- Variant of Rajgor Series # 1046 & 1052/Variant of T. Hardekar, 2019 # KO 76), choice very fine, Extremely Rare.
Note: While this type of coin generally has four punch-marks, a fifth symbol is visible in this specimen with the taurine in a semi-circular enclosure punched twice. The significance of this is unclear.
