Description

Roman Empire - Domitian (AD 81-96). Silver denarius (3,35 g. 19 mm.). Minted in Rome 79 AD.

IMP CAESAR DOMITIANVS AVG Head laureate right.
TR P - COS VII Tripod, with fillets streaming out left and right, on which are ravens standing left and right, and, in center, dolphin above wreath.

RIC 5. BM 4. Paris 4. Cohen 552.

Rare first issue of Domitian's reign not yet calling him P P or recording his designation to the consulship in 82; only three specimens of this coin in Reka Devnia hoard.

Good very fine. Beautiful old cabinet patina with golden notes.
