The legend CABE is quite clear on the obverse and a good part of the legend on the reverse is legible (partially on the edge of the blank). History: City of the Cavares tribe, under the influence of Marseilles, Cavaillon emancipated itself from Massaliote supervision after the fall of Marseilles in 49 BC. The fact that obols in the name of Lépide, governor propraetor of the Narbonnaise between 44-42 BC, were struck could indicate a new foundation by Lépide. He joined his forces in Gaul with those of Marc-Antoine on May 29, 43 BC. He formed with Octave and Marc Antoine the second Triumvirate. The city may have received the 'jus latinum' from Augustus in 23 BC.
