Roman Imperatorial - Julius Caesar. - Silver denarius (3,92 g., 20 mm.) Military mint traveling with Caesar in south Galia or North Hispania, 49-48 B.C. Elephant advancing right, trampling on serpent; CAESAR in exergue. Emblems of the pontificate: simpulum, aspergillum, securis (surmounted by wolf's head), and apex. C-49; Cal-640; FFC-50; Crawford-443/1; Sydenham-1006, CRI 9; RSC 49. About uncirculated condition. Old cabinet silver tone. Outstanding quality.
