★ Extremely rare Hercules in reverse VIRTVS AVG ★

Roman Empire - Gallienus in the sole reign (260-268 A.D.); silvered billon antoninianus (2,91 g. 21 mm.). Rome mint. 6th issue, 260-261 AD.

GALLIENVS AVG, radiate and cuirassed bust right.

VIRTVS AVG, Hercules standing facing, head right; right hand rests on club, left holds bow and lionskin.

MIR 36, 341x; RIC V (sole reign) 595 (Siscia); Cunetio 1007; Normanby –; Chalfont –.

Very rare, only four noted by MIR, including the one in Cunetio (now in BM).

GVF/EF. Lightly toned.
