Roman Empire - Trebonianus Gallus (A.D. 251-253). Silver antoninianus (3,39 g, 22 mm.). Minted in Rome, 6th officina. 4th emission, early AD 253.

IMP CAE C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG, radiate, draped, cuirassed bust right /

APOLL SALVTARI, Apollo Salutaris standing left, holding olive branch and lyre resting upon rock.

RIC IV 32; RSC 20.

GVF+, lightly toned.

On this reverse Apollo is portrayed as Apollo Salutaris, as the god of healing, physical health, and general welfare of the Roman people, state, and army.
