CRUSADERS. Edessa. Richard of Salerno, regent, 1104-1108. Follis (Bronze, 26 mm, 8.40 g, 12 h). Nimbate and draped bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels; in field to left and right, IC - XC. Rev. KE / BOHΘ / PIKAP / Δω ('Lord, help Richard' in Greek) in four lines. Malloy 4. Metcalf, p. 33, Richard Class 1. Porteous 3. Wäckerlin 162. Extremely rare and in exceptional condition for this very difficult issue. Traces of overstriking and with an edge crack, otherwise, very fine.
