Description

Constantine I, 307/310-337. Follis (Bronze, 21 mm, 3.64 g, 7 h), Treveri, 317-318. CONSTANTINVS P F AVG Laureate and draped bust of Constantine I to right. Rev. PRINCIPI I-VVENTVTIS / F - T / BTR Crispus, as prince of the youth, standing front in military attire, head to right, holding inverted spear in his right hand and globe in his left. Cf. RIC 160-162 (for obverse) and RIC 169-171 and 172-174 (for reverse). Good very fine.

From the Tetrarchy Collection, formed over the past twenty-five years.

This hybrid issue combines an obverse of Constantine I (RIC 160-162) with a reverse used for his Caesars Crispus (RIC 169-171) and Constantine II (RIC 172-174).
