Description

CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 344-340 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.78 g, 2 h). Nude warrior riding horse galloping to left, holding bridles in his right hand and carrying small round shield in his left; below, Δ. Rev. ΤΑΡΑΣ Youthful oikist, nude, riding dolphin to left, holding kantharos in his right hand and resting his left on the dolphin; below, E above small dolphin and waves to left. Fischer-Bossert 649 (V251/R501). HN Italy 870. Struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise, nearly very fine.
