Description

PTOLEMAIC KINGS OF EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, 305-282 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 14.25 g, 1 h), uncertain mint on Cyprus (Salamis or Citium), circa 294 BC. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around neck; small Δ behind ear. Rev. Eagle, with closed wings, standing left on thunderbolt; in field to left, monogram of MT above monogram of HAP. Lorber 231. Svoronos 246. Struck on a slightly short flan and with minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.
