CILICIA. Tarsos. Tarkumuwa (Datames), satrap of Cilicia and Cappadocia, 384-361/0 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 10.43 g, 10 h). 𐡁𐡏𐡋𐡕𐡓𐡆 ('b'ltrs' in Aramaic) Baaltars seated right on backless throne, his body turned to front, holding bunch of grapes and grain ear in his left hand and eagle-tipped scepter in his right; below throne, lion seated right; to right, thymiaterion; all within crenellated border. Rev. 𐡕𐡓𐡊𐡌𐡅 ('trdmw' in Aramaic) Datames seated to right, wearing Persian dress and holding arrow; to upper right, winged solar disk; to right, bow. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG Levante -. SNG Paris 283. SNG von Aulock -. Beautifully toned. The reverse somewhat double struck, otherwise, good very fine.
