THESSALY, Thessalian League. Late 2nd-mid 1st century BC. Stater (Silver, 26 mm, 6.30 g, 1 h), Androsthenes and Aristokles, magistrates. [ANΔPO/Σ]ΘENOY[Σ] Head of Zeus right, wearing oak wreath. Rev. ΘEΣΣA/ΛΩN - Α-ΡΙΣ/ΤΟ/ΚΛΗ-Σ Athena Itonia striding right, hurling spear with her right hand and extending shield with her left. BCD Thessaly II 874.1-2 var. McClean 4863. A beautifully toned example struck on a broad flan. Very fine.
