LESBOS. Mytilene. Circa 521-478 BC. Hekte (Electrum, 10 mm, 2.58 g, 6 h). Facing gorgoneion with protruding tongue. Rev. Incuse head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress; small incuse square below neck. Bodenstedt 19.1. SNG Copenhagen -. SNG von Aulock 1691. A very sharp piece with a particularly ferocious gorgoneion. Nearly extremely fine.
