ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Sulayman II Qanuni ('the Lawgiver'), AH 926-974 / AD 1520-1566. Sultani (Gold, 19 mm, 3.16 g, 3 h), a contemporary imitation of a Sultani from Qustantiniya. 'Sultan Sulayman Shah ibn Sultan Selim Shah, may his victory be glorious, struck in Qustantiniya in the year 926' in Arabic. Rev. 'The Striker of precious metal, the Master of Glory and the Victorious on land and sea' in Arabic. Cf. Sultan 9339 (for a similar imitation). Minor flan cracks, otherwise, very fine.
