Leo IV the Khazar, with Constantine VI, 775-780. Miliaresion (Silver, 22 mm, 1.92 g, 12 h), Constantinopolis. IҺSЧS XRISTЧS ҺICA Cross potent set on three steps. Rev. LЄOҺ / S COҺST/AҺTIҺЄ Є / C ΘЄЧ ЬA/SILIS in five lines. DOC 3. SB 1585. Nicely toned. Traces of overstriking, otherwise, very fine.
This coin was overstruck on an Umayyad dirham, with parts of the undertype still visible.
