Description

L. Scipio Asiagenus, 106 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.89 g, 2 h), Rome. Laureate head of Jupiter to left. Rev. L•SCIP•ASIAG Jupiter driving galloping quadriga to right, hurling thunderbolt with his right hand and holding reins and scepter in his left; above I with pellet. Babelon (Cornelia) 24. Crawford 311/1c. RBW 1154. Sydenham 576b. A nicely toned example. Good very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, privately acquired from Münzen & Medaillen in the 1960s or 1970s (with original ticket).
