Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 12 mm, 1.99 g, 2 h), Arados, circa 311-300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, anchor and A; below throne, M. Price 3361. Rare and darkly toned. The obverse struck slightly off center. Very fine.
