Description

★ Of the highest rarity, one of just six known examples ★

JUDAEA, Hellenistic Period. Ptolemaic issues, circa 261/0-242/1 BCE. Obol or Ma'ah (Silver, 10 mm, 0.79 g, 12 h), likely struck under Ptolemy II (245-246 BCE). Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right. Rev. 'YHDH' (in Paleo-Hebrew) Eagle with spread wings standing left. GLF Type 44.3 ( this coin, O1/R1). Jeselsohn 211 ( same dies ). Of the highest rarity, one of just six known examples. Darkly toned. Somewhat porous and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
