Description

CILICIA. Kelenderis. Circa 430-420 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 10.83 g, 2 h). Youthful nude rider seated sideways on horse prancing to left, holding whip in his left hand and preparing to jump off. Rev. K-E-Λ Goat kneeling left, head turned back to right; above, ivy branch with berries and leaves; all within shallow round incuse. Celenderis 15 and pl. I, 14 ( same dies ). SNG Levante -. SNG Paris 48 var. (Π below horse). SNG von Aulock 5624 ( same dies ). Well centered on a full flan. Slightly porous and with minor deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
