★ A beautifully toned Tetradrachm from Magnesia ad Maeandrum ★
IONIA. Magnesia ad Maeandrum. Circa 155-145 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 17.14 g, 12 h), Attic standard, Erasippos, son of Aristeos, magistrate. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, with bow and quiver over her shoulder. Rev. MAΓNHTΩN - EPAΣIΠΠOΣ / APIΣTEOY Apollo standing left on maeander pattern, holding filleted laurel branch in his lowered right hand and leaning his left elbow on a tall tripod behind him; all within laurel wreath. BMC 37. Ellis-Evans, Wreathed Tetradrachms, 222 (O.29/R.EA13). Jones obv. die 27. SNG Berry 1067. SNG von Aulock 2042. A beautiful, sharply struck example of fine style with lovely iridescent toning. Very minor flatness and with tiny die breaks on the obverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
