★ A splendid lion Tetradrachm from Kyzikos ★

MYSIA. Kyzikos. Circa 390-341/0 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 15.22 g, 7 h). ΣΩΤΕΙΡΑ Head of Kore to left, wearing wreath of grain ears, pendant earring, simple necklace and sphendone covered by a veil. Rev. KY-ZI Head of a lion to left, with open jaws and protruding tongue; below, tunny fish to left; behind, head of a stag to left. BMC -. CNG 60 (2002), 677. Leu Numismatik 6 (2020), 166 ( same dies ). Pixodarus Type 2, Group D, 6. SNG Paris -. SNG von Aulock -. Von Fritze II, -. Lovely iridescent toning and with a splendid head of a lion. Minor flan fault on the obverse, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
