Description

CORINTHIA. Corinth. Circa 375-300 BC. Stater (Silver, 23 mm, 8.52 g, 9 h). Pegasos flying left; below, Ϙ. Rev. Head of Athena to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; behind neck guard, N and prow right. BCD Corinth -. Calciati 381. Ravel 1063. SNG Copenhagen 122. Rare. A very attractive coin with beautiful iridescent toning. Minor flatness on the obverse and with a few faint scratches, otherwise, about extremely fine.

Privately acquired from Baldwins on 16 February 1949 (with collector's ticket) and from the collection of Prof. E. L. Jonas, Glendining, 18 January 1949, 159 (part of).
