LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 300-280 BC. Didrachm or Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.51 g, 7 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested and laureate Attic helmet. Rev. YEΛHTΩN Lion walking right; below, N; in exergue, filleted thyrsos. HN Italy 1300. SNG ANS 1353 ( same dies ). SNG Ashmolean 1304 ( same dies ). Williams 388d ( this coin, O194/R274). Beautifully toned and with a fine pedigree. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die and with two small scratches on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
