PHOENICIA. Tyre. Elagabalus, 218-222. AE (Bronze, 27 mm, 10.81 g, 12 h). IMP CAES M AV ANTON[INVS AV] Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. TVRIORVM Dido standing left on deck of galley sailing right, holding short scepter and aphlaston; at stern, helmsman bending over rudder to left, emptying basket; sailor to right, stern decorated with a shield and aphlaston, murex shell and palm frond in exergue. Rouvier 2377. RPC VI online 8665.13 ( this coin ). Repatinated and the obverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, very fine.
