SASANIAN KINGS. Peroz I, 457/9-484. Drachm (Silver, 27 mm, 4.01 g, 3 h), 3rd crown (circa AD 474-484), KL (Kirmān). Within a dotted circle, draped bust of Peroz to right, wearing a winged mural crown with a frontal crescent and a korymbos set on a crescent on top; the legend running anticlockwise from 5 h to 10 h, ‘kdy pylwcy – MLK[An MLKA]’ = ‘kay Pērōz šāhān šāh’ (‘King Peroz, King of Kings’ in Pahlavi). Rev. Fire altar, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, ‘pylwcy’ = ‘Pērōz’ (‘Peroz’ in Pahlavi); to right, KL (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Göbl type III/1. SNS III/1, type IIIa/1c. Beautifully toned. Scratches and nicks, otherwise, good very fine.
