★ A very rare 3 Dukaten from Frankfurt in exceptional condition ★

GERMANY. Frankfurt (Stadt). 3 Dukaten (Gold, 35 mm, 10.39 g, 12 h), 1658. CONSILIO ET - INDVSTRIA The all-seeing eye of God in clouds over arms emerging from clouds and holding scepter and sword; below, crowned globe. Rev. LEOPOLDVS / HUNG:ET:BOH:REX / CORON:IN.REGEM / ROMANORVM / I•AVGVSTI / MDCLVIII in six lines within wreath; above, two cherubs supporting the imperial German crown; the cherub on the right also holds a scepter. Förschner 82.2. Friedberg 978. Joseph/Fellner 2162. Very rare. An exceptionally fine and lustrous piece of great beauty. Virtually as struck.

This impressive coin was struck to commemorate the coronation of Leopold I (1658-1705), the longest-ruling Habsburg emperor, as Holy Roman Emperor in the Imperial Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew in Frankfurt on August 1, 1658.
