Theophilus, 829-842. Solidus (Gold, 16 mm, 3.85 g, 5 h), Syracuse, 829-830/1. ✱ΘЄΟFΙLΟS bΑSΙL Crowned and draped bust of Theophilus facing, holding cross potent in his right hand. Rev. ΘЄΟFΙLΟS bΑSΙL Crowned bust of Theophilus facing, wearing loros and holding globus cruciger in his right hand. DOC 18. SB 1671. A sharp and very well struck piece. Extremely fine.
