Description

Trajan, 98-117. Denarius (Silver, 20 mm, 3.09 g, 8 h), Rome, circa 108-109. IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P Laureate head of Trajan to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. COS V P P S P Q R OPTIMO PRINC Roma seated left, holding Victory in her right hand and spear in her left. BMC 276. Cohen 69 var. (no drapery). RIC 116. Woytek 281b. Beautifully toned. Light pitting on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.

From the S. Pozzi Collection, privately purchased from Galerie des Monnaies at the 10th international coin fair in Zurich on 17 October 1981.
