Description

SICILY. Akragas. Punic occupation, 213-211 BC. Half Shekel (Silver, 19 mm, 3.72 g, 2 h). Male head (of Triptolemos?) to right, wearing wreath of grain ears. Rev. Horse leaping right; below, 𐤇 ('h' in Punic); all within within olive wreath. Burnett, Enna 132-47. SNG Copenhagen 378. A beautifully toned example. Very minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From the S. Pozzi Collection, privately purchased from G. Brosi at the 10th international coin fair in Bern on 3 May 1981.
