Anonymous, 11th century. Seal (Lead, 23 mm, 12.18 g, 12 h). MHP - ΘV ("The Mother of God") The Mother of God, nimbate, both hands half-raised before her, palms outward. Rev. O A ΓЄ/Ⲱ/P-ΓI/O/C ("Saint George") Nimbate facing bust of Saint George, holding a spear over his right shoulder, and resting a shield on his left arm. Unpublished in the standard references. A charming iconographical seal in a provincial engraving style. Good very fine.
