Description

ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Ibrahim, AH 1049-1058 / AD 1640-1648. Sultani (Gold, 24 mm, 3.41 g, 12 h), Misr, AH 1049 = AD 1640. Within a circle, ‘sulṭān al-barrayn / wa khāqān al-baḥrayn / al-sulṭān ibn / al-sulṭān’ (‘The sultan of the two lands and the khaqan of the two seas, Sultan son of Sultan’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a circle, ‘Sulṭān Ibrāhīm ibn / Aḥmad Khān ʿazza / naṣruhū ḍuriba fī / Miṣr sana / 1049’ (‘Sultan Ibrahim son of Ahmad Khan. May his victory be honoured. Struck in Misr, year 1049’ in Arabic). Album 1376. Rare. The flan slightly wavy along the edge and with minor areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.
