ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Ahmad I, AH 1012-1026 / AD 1603-1617. Sultani (Gold, 21 mm, 3.37 g, 6 h), Misr, AH 1013 = AD 1604/5. Within a circle, ‘sulṭān al-barrayn / wa khāqān al-baḥrayn / al-sulṭān ibn / al-sulṭān’ (‘The sultan of the two lands and the khaqan of the two seas, Sultan son of Sultan’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a circle, ‘Sulṭān Aḥmad ibn / Muḥammad Khān ʿazza / naṣruhū ḍuriba fī / Miṣr sana / 1013’ (‘Sultan Ahmad son of Mehmed Khan. May his victory be honoured. Struck in Misr, year 1013’ in Arabic). Album –, cf. Album 1347.2 (for AH 1012). A rare date. Light areas of weakness and with scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
