Description

ISLAMIC, Ottoman Empire. Ahmad I, AH 1012-1026 / AD 1603-1617. Sultani (Gold, 22 mm, 3.49 g, 11 h), Misr, AH 1012 = AD 1603/4. Within a circle, ‘[sulṭān] al-barrayn / [wa khā]qān al-baḥrayn / al-sulṭān ibn / al-sulṭān’ (‘The sultan of the two lands and the khaqan of the two seas, Sultan son of Sultan’ in Arabic). Rev. Within a circle, ‘Sul[ṭān Aḥmad ibn] / Muḥammad Khān [ʿazza] / naṣruhū ḍuriba fī / Miṣr sana / 1012’ (‘Sultan Ahmad son of Mehmed Khan. May his victory be honoured. Struck in Misr, year 1012’ in Arabic). Album 1347.2. The flan somewhat wavy and with areas of weakness, otherwise, good very fine.
