ATTICA. Athens. Circa 165-42 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 15.72 g, 11 h), Eumelos and Theoxenides, magistrates, 75/4. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos and long tendril on the bowl, and with the foreparts of four horses above the visor. Rev. A-ΘE / EYMH-ΛΟΣ / ΘΕΟ/ΞENI/ΔΗΣ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, Ares(?) standing facing, hol55ding spear in his right hand and placing his left on his hip; on amphora, A; in exergue, ΔΙ; all within laurel wreath. Thompson 1196a var. (no letters in the exergue). Sharply struck and fresh, with a fine style head of Athena. Harshly cleaned and with some scratches, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
