Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24 mm, 17.11 g, 6 h), Babylon I, struck under Seleukos I, circa 311-300. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [ΒAΣIΛEΩΣ] - AΛEΞANΔPO[Y] Zeus seated left on throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, MI; below throne, monogram within wreath. Price 3752. Light surface marks, otherwise, very fine.
