KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.00 g, 1 h), Babylon, struck under Peithon, 317-311. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒAΣIΛ[EΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔP][OY] Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, monogram within wreath; below throne, ΚΛ. Price 3713. A beautiful piece, boldly struck and of fine style. Light surface marks on the reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
