Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 17.08 g, 6 h), Tyre, under Ptolemy I as Satrap, RY 32 of 'Ozmilk, King of Tyre = 315/4. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in left field, II-=𐤏𐤊. Price 3283. Lightly toned. Light marks and with a minor scuff on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
