Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Drachm (Silver, 17 mm, 4.21 g, 12 h), Lampsakos, under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, circa 310-301. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. [A]ΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, KI; below throne, monogram of ME. Price 1406. Struck on a somewhat short flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
