LOWER DANUBE. Geto-Dacians. 1st century BC. 'Denarius' (Silver, 20 mm, 3.86 g, 9 h), imitating a Roman Republican denarius of L. Philippus (113-112 BC). Head of Philip V of Macedon to right, wearing diademed royal Macedonian helmet adorned with two goat horns; behind, monogram of ROMA. Rev. Equestrian statue, holding branch, set to right on raised tablet inscribed L PHILIPPVS; below horse, flower; in exergue, star (mark of value). Cf. Crawford 293/1 (for prototype). Some scrapes on the edge of the obverse and on the reverse and the obverse a bit weak, otherwise, very fine.
