LOWER DANUBE. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 16.17 g, 1 h). Celticized head of Dionysos to right, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΣΙΝΟΣV - ΣΩHOΣΣ / ΑΙΓΙΤΛΝ Herakles standing front, head to left, holding club in his right hand and with lion skin draped over his left arm; to inner left, M above M. Dembski -. Flesche -. Lanz 974 ( same obverse die ). Lukanc pl. 117, 1312 ( same obverse die ). OTA Class 3. Sharply struck and unusually well preserved. Minor marks and faint scratches and with light doubling on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
