Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.72 g, 12 h), Kabyle, struck under Kavaros, circa 230/25-218. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Artemis Phosphoros facing with torch in each hand. Draganov - (O5/R-). Peykov F2010. Price 882. Lightly toned. Struck from a somewhat worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
